Cyber ​​hacker group 'Anonymous' has declared a 'cyberwar' against Russian President Vladimir Putin's administration as it launches a full-scale invasion of Kyiv amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The hacker group's goal, according to international media, is to disable several Russian government websites.

RT.com, a Russian state-controlled international television network, was also targeted by the gang.

According to the sources, RT.com and several other websites were subjected to a broad denial of service (BDoS) attack.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, hacker collective "Anonymous", known for accessing foreign government accounts, declared a "cyberwar" against Russia on Thursday.

The group announced its decision on social media and claimed to have taken down several Russian government websites.

A social media account claiming to represent the group wrote Thursday that "the Anonymous collective is officially at cyber warfare against the Russian government."

"The 'Anonymous' collective has taken down the website of the Russian propaganda channel RT News," it added, confirming the hack on RT.com.

Meanwhile, the Russian government's websites, Kremlin, State Duma and Ministry of Defense were all attacked by the hacker collective's "cyberattack".

Several users reported websites targeted by the gang slowing down and going offline for a long periods during the day on social media networks.

In a series of tweets, the group made it clear that it opposes Putin's recent actions against Ukraine.
