The light-hearted video of a Ukrainian farmer allegedly towing a Russian military tank provides welcome respite from the grim news of intensifying fighting between the Ukrainian and Russian armies.

In the undated video, a tractor can be seen towing what appears to be a Russian MTLV (Fully Amphibious Multi-Purpose Auxiliary Tracked Vehicle). The viewer recording the video can be heard sharing a laugh with the others at the odd sight.

The video was widely shared on social media, including by British MP Johnny Mercer, who tweeted: "I'm no expert but the invasion doesn't seem to be going particularly well. A Ukrainian tractor steals a Russian APC today.

Some people have speculated that Ukrainian civilians, many of whom were forced to join mobilization efforts and stay in the country, are confiscating Russian artillery and tanks. “This war was a logistical disaster for Russia. There are several tanks just running out of fuel and soldiers completely cut off from supply lines- that's why these tanks are being captured,” one person commented on the post.

Olexander Shcherba, a Ukrainian diplomat who served as Ukraine's ambassador to Austria from 2014 to 2021, also shared the video, calling it "probably the first tank ever stolen by a farmer".

Last week, a video showing a Ukrainian civilian trying to block a Russian military tank went viral. Many people have compared the video to the iconic "tank man" of China's Tiananmen Square.
