According to a Reuters report citing an adviser to the Ukraine interior minister, no one was killed in the incident. Anton Herashchenko also said Russia was lying about not bombing civilian infrastructure. According to the adviser, at least 40 of these sites had been hit and Russian troops were shelling civilian sites, according to the report.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko confirmed the incident, writing that the night had been "difficult", with Russian "sabotage groups" in the capital.

He insisted there were no regular Russian troops in Kyiv, but said they were trying to enter from different directions.

Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted a photo of the damaged building.

“Kyiv, our splendid and peaceful city, survived another night under attack from Russian ground forces and missiles. One of them hit a residential apartment in Kyiv," he wrote.

He urged the international community to "completely isolate Russia, expel the ambassadors, (introduce an) oil embargo, destroy its economy".

"Stop the Russian war criminals!" he added.

The Russian military said on Saturday it had attacked Ukraine's military infrastructure using cruise missiles fired from the air and sea.
