Why did you decide to celebrate NRI Day on January 9?

On January 9, 1915, Mahatma Gandhi came to India from South Africa and became the greatest Pravasi who led the Indian freedom struggle and freed India from British or colonial rule. Not only did he change the lives of Indians, but he also created an example that if a person's dreams and wishes are clear, they can accomplish anything. As a non-resident Indian or Pravasi, he is presented as a symbol of a change and development that he could bring to India.

According to the Indian government, NRI has global exposure in terms of business and development strategies across the globe. If given the opportunity, they will contribute to the development process by infusing their ideas and experiences in their home country, namely India.

Do you know that the first Pravasi Bharatiya Divas or India Day of Non-Residents was celebrated on January 9, 2003? Its format has been revised since 2015 to celebrate PBD once every two years and organize thematic PBD conferences. Since then, it has taken place every two years.
