The Electric Vehicles which are most expected to launch on 2022

These are the most popular electric vehicles that are expected to go on sale this year.

Fasten your seat belt, because we've looked at an upcoming EVs and presented our list of the 10 most anticipated EVs for 2022. It was difficult to do and there was a lot of internal debate. Let's know one by one below..

1. Lightning Ford F-150

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

We are very excited about the upcoming F-150 Lightning. For those of you who don't live in the US or Canada, it's hard to understand how popular this segment of truck is! Ford sells nearly one million of the F series each year. So for an all-electric beast like Lightning to hit the market, our hearts are starting to race. With its "Mega Power Frunk", its incredible vehicle loading capacity, it really pushes the limits of what a truck can be!

Take it to Ford ... start ramping up production because you'll have a hard time keeping up with demand!

2. IONIQ 5

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

All we had to do was put the IONIQ 5 on the list! Of course, that was in some customer entries in some regions in 2021, but it won't reach the US market until 2022.

With prices in the US starting around $ 40,000, we were surprised at the value! In fact, we expected it to be much bigger. We love the design of the IONIQ 5 ... it's so cool, spacious and functional at the same time! With an actual range of over 250 miles, and probably over 300 if you treat it right, this car is going to be a real winner! Let's see if the US market receives it as well as the UK market!

3. KIA EV6

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

Under no circumstances would we leave the Kia EV6 off our list. We had this car on our channel a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. We think it's gorgeous, especially that character line that starts behind the front wheel, rises at the rear, and turns into a light bar that rises up at the rear.

Inside, the car feels good. It's set up more like a driver's car than its siblings, the IONIQ 5. With a range of almost 300 miles and pretty good cranking power, it's a compelling choice. We don't have a price for the US yet, but we think it won't be too far from the IONIQ 5.

And we haven't even mentioned the upcoming GT version ... wow, this stuff is electric ... literally! You will sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in more than 3 seconds… great!

4. Nissan Ariya

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

We really debated whether or not to put Ariya on the list. In the end, we did it because we believe Nissan has built great loyalty with the LEAF over the past decade. While they've dropped the ball in recent years when they held such a dominant position, we hope the Ariya puts them back on track, despite being an entirely different car on a different platform.

It looks like it's being priced a bit high to hit the numbers we're expecting, and we think it might struggle to take market share from the iD.4. But here in Europe it will come with a very useful built-in 22 kW AC on-board charger. And if you can get close to its 500km WLTP rating with its 87kWh usable battery, it may come as a surprise to some people.

It's on our list, but it's true that it doesn't look good, and it would be the first to go if we had to downsize.

5. Mercedes EQS

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

It's time for some super luxury now with the Mercedes EQS. It's been a bit dormant, with models like the Lucid Air and the Tesla Model S Plaid hitting the headlines. But Mercedes may like it. We were a bit disappointed with Mercedes' performance in the electric vehicle field, so we have high hopes for the EQS.

In the UK you will need to raise around £ 100,000 to get one, and maybe up to £ 140,000 to get a top-of-the-line model.

But the reach and the technology you get is amazing! It promises to be the ultimate luxury sedan with great range and efficiency thanks to its virtually lowest drag coefficient of any production car. Surpassed only by the EV1 really.

6.BMW i4

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

We are very excited about the BMW i4 and it is, for us, one of the most anticipated cars of 2022. Of course, a few selected customers got their keys at the end of 2021 at BMW Welt, but the serious numbers will not be seen until 2022.

Now, whenever anyone mentions that they like the i4, Tesla fans start flipping 0-60mph stats like angry chimps in the woods. But we think this distracts attention from the i4's true appeal. It will lose to the Model 3 Performance in a lot of categories, but the i4 will deliver something in terms of a ride feel and a luxury feel that will really strike a nerve. There are a lot of people who will be drawn to full BEVs thanks to the Gran Coupé form factor of the i4 M50.

We can't wait to try one!

7. MG5 Long Range Refresh

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

We love a nice family car here on this YouTube channel. And we were very impressed with the MG5 when we drove it a few months ago. It was incredible value, but it wasn't a great car. MG is revamping it with updated software, a new body and an improved battery.

It will have a range of over 250 miles, over 180+ horsepower, a 580-liter boot ... and all for around € 30,000! It's not the sexiest car on the list ... but we need more value-for-money EVs and it's a welcome break from the SUV form factor.

8. Lucid Air Pure

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

Ok ... so we already had the Lucid ... but it's the high-end editions that are extremely expensive. What we are really looking forward to is the 'Pure' edition. Let's call it the ... eh ... 'affordable' Lucid!

So it's cheaper, with a smaller usable 85kWh battery and not that luxury. But it's still a car with massive range that will exceed 300 miles in the real world!

 9. Citroen Ami

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

We discussed this a lot ... but in the end it all came down to diversifying our list. While we love the Tesla Model Y, we're a little fed up with the crossover SUVs dominating the conversation about EVs. So when something like Ami comes up, we get really excited. I mean, just watch it!

Where I am in the UK we'll get it for around £ 6,000. And considering how cheap it will be to run, we think it's not bad! In France, as it is classified as a mountain bike, you can legally drive it from the age of 14!

But there are downsides ... it's slow and won't even hit 30mph. The range of its 5.5kWh battery will be around 40 miles, and it will recharge from a normal household outlet in around 3 hours.

Citroen… I will have two, thank you very much!

10. Ola S1 Pro Scooter

The Electric Vehicles which are most expected on 2022

And the last thing on our list is something I'm going to buy as soon as I can get my hands on it ... it's the Ola scooter. There are a few versions out there, but I'll go for the 4kWh S1 Pro which will run around 100 miles and hit speeds of up to 70mph.

But the best thing about Ola isn't just the specs and the really awesome tech ... it's the price! We do not yet know the exact price as it will translate into the US or European markets, but it will almost certainly undermine the Vespa and Niu offer considerably!

I can't wait to see them hanging out!

Finalists

And a few honorable mentions now… We've decided to keep the Tesla Cybertruck off the list. Because? Not because it doesn't deserve to be there ... but because we feel like it's been around for years already and we're not sure whether it will arrive in 2022 or not, at least not in large quantities.

We will also be ditching the Hummer EV. Because? Well, we don't know if that will make until 2022. But it's also not something that we're particularly passionate about. It's an amazing exercise in terms of testing what can be done with an electric vehicle. Something of this size that scales so quickly is amazing ... but for us, we can't see that its practicality and use cases are really valuable. Maybe a controversy ... let us know in the comments!

And we didn't even mention the Rimac Nevera ... agh, there are too many!

Abstract

But it is a good thing! A list like this would have been so boring another 5 years ago ... but now ... look at the choices we have!
