Whenever you think of Star Wars the first thing that comes to mind for almost everyone is the "lightsaber," a shiny tubular sword that can pierce anything and let's be honest, even as a adults, we want one.

However, in reality lightsaber replicas are made from an acrylic tube with lights inside that glow like the ones in the movies, but can barely cut through anything.

However, a YouTuber went ahead and crafted a lifelike lightsaber that not only looks like a real lightsaber from the movies, but can pierce just about anything you throw at it, burning to almost 2204 degrees Celsius. In case you didn't know, that's a lot.

YouTuber Hacksmith is known for making fantastic props from actual movies. He's known to have crafted Iron Man's helmet, Captain America's shield, and even Thor's hammer. And to get this lightsaber to pierce surfaces, he took the help of plasma.

The Lightsaber is essentially a proto-saber in that it requires energy dense fuel to propel the necessary power. The saber is connected to a compressed liquid propane tank as well as an oxygen tank.

To get a flow of clear light, as we see in the lightsaber, they used a laminar flow nozzle which is actually used in glassware to get a flow of concentrated gas which results in a flow of light. They then created an electronic module to electronically manage the gas flow to stabilize the beam.

In another video, the Hacksmith is seen destroying walls, sheets of glass, sheets of stainless steel, sheets of iron, and even concrete with the lightsaber. They recreated iconic scenes from the Star Wars movie showing what their lightsaber is capable of, including a duel between the proto-saber and an acrylic replica.

Of course, a word of warning to all you budding DIYers out there: Hacksmith is a pro at building beautiful and potentially very dangerous gadgets, so don't try this at home and stay safe.
