Bajaj-KTM electric bike scheduled for mass production in 2022

Official documents indicate that Bajaj Auto and KTM's joint 48-volt electric two-wheeler platform is expected to enter mass production in India in 2022. Talk of this jointly developed platform has been circling for a few years, but it now looks like the vehicle is close to making its debut.

In December 2021, Bajaj Auto announced the establishment of a new electric vehicle manufacturing unit in India which will be ready to launch electric two-wheelers for domestic and export markets in June 2022.

The Pune-based manufacturer has invested Rs 300 crore in this project. This factory, which occupies an area of ​​half a million square feet area, will have an annual capacity of 500,000 electric vehicles per year. This new facility will be located in the same area as Bajaj Chetak's production base in Akurdi.

Back in 2019, one of the senior officials had confirmed that the vehicle would be manufactured in India and production is expected to start at the Bajaj plant in 2022. Both brands appear to be on schedule.
